What is your current position?

I am a PhD student at the Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention Institute of the University of Zurich. I am also part of the Research Group of Prof. Roger Kouyos at the Department of Infectious Diseases and Hospital Epidemiology of the University Hospital Zurich.

What are your main research areas today?

My main focus is on epidemiology and preventive medicine. I am currently working on several projects related to the Swiss HIV Cohort Study and the SwissPrEPared Study. My former research was centred around perioperative medicine.

What has Filling the Gap contributed to your career?

Filling the Gap allowed me to make a very important step in my research career, i.e. to start a PhD in Epidemiology. Filling the Gap also contributed to strengthen my academic profile, which helped me obtain funding for some of my PhD projects (SHCS research grant, SNF project-based funding).

Which advice would you like to give to young researchers who strive for an academic career?

Avoid low-hanging fruits, strive for the best!
