The Broermann Medical Innovation Award recognizes scientists whose discoveries have the potential to transform patient care worldwide. With an annual endowment of €1 million, it is one of the most prestigious and generously funded awards in medicine.
In 2025, the award was presented to Dr. Carl June and Dr. Michel Sadelain for their pioneering work in CAR-T cell therapy, which has revolutionized cancer treatment and established a new paradigm for personalized, immune-based medicine.
For the 2026 Broermann Medical Innovation Award, nominations are now being accepted. Submissions must highlight a scientific innovation with significant potential to improve patient care. The application should include:
- A description of the scientific discovery (max. 2 pages),
- A CV of the nominee (max. 2 pages),
- A list of key publications (max. 5 pages),
- Relevant patents or patent applications, if applicable.
