Call for Sustainability Projects at UZH Faculty of Medicine

The University of Zurich’s Faculty of Medicine is funding sustainability projects in 2026 with up to CHF 15,000 per project. Applications are open until March 31, 2026.

The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Zurich (UZH) has launched a call for sustainability projects, funded by revenue from its internal CO₂ pricing scheme for air travel. Each project can receive up to CHF 15,000, with the total number of funded projects depending on the remaining budget after train travel reimbursements are deducted.

Eligible projects must contribute concretely to the ecological sustainability of the faculty, encompassing all aspects beyond just CO₂ reduction. Projects must be linked to research or teaching; purely clinical projects are excluded.

Applications are open to individuals or teams employed in medical fields at UZH. External participants may be included if the project relates to the Faculty of Medicine. Students may apply only if at least one UZH employee is involved. The application must not exceed three pages and should include a project description, ecological impact, timeline, and budget, along with a short CV of the applicant(s). Submissions are due by March 31, 2026, to Holger.Dressel@usz.ch.

Applications will be reviewed by at least two members of the Faculty’s Sustainability Working Group, with final decisions made by the Faculty Board and announced in June 2026. A short final report (max. two pages) must be submitted upon project completion.
